Whilst it would be impossible to describe all of the beaches in Goa, here are 10 of the most amazing beaches for you to visit during your next getaway.
1) Calangute Beach
Calangute beach in Goa is also known as the ‘Queen of Beaches’ and it just happens to be our local beach which we adore. It is one of the most popular beaches in Goa with a host of facilities to cater to visitors, including golden sand along the beach and water sports such as banana boat rides, parasailing and jet skiing. It’s also the perfect tourist haven, large enough to accommodate the huge number of high-season visitors. We recommend that you get to the beach early and reserve a sun bed at the beach shack, make a day of it and enjoy the local delicacies such as fresh seafood. It's 15km from the capital city Panjim. One of the places worth visiting nearby is the St. Alex Church. The Church of St Alex greets the visitors with its two towers and a magnificent dome gracing the facade.
2) Baga Beach
Goa Baga beach is an option for those who want to be away from the hustle and bustle found on the other beaches. Goa's Baga beach is a small but perfect beach nestled between its two more famous cousins, Anjuna on one side and Calangute on the other. It is considered to be just an extension of the Calangute beach, Baga is 10 kilometres away from Mapusa. It is easy to get to.amking it perfect for families who want a good place to enjoy some quite moments and dwell in peaceful contemplation with oneself. The Baga beach is more of a fishing beach with the tourists from across the world trying to get that big catch. Miramar Beach is situated 3 kms from Panaji in North Goa. A lovely golden beach of soft sand girdled with palm trees facing the blue Arabian Sea. While at the Miramar Beach one can visit Dhempe College of Arts and Science, the memorial to Goa's first chief minister and other places that are worth a visit. Another attraction nearby is Aguada Fort. One can have an excellent view of Fort Aguada from the beach across the river. 4) Bogmalo Beach
Goa Bogmalo beach sports a mixture of serenity and commercialism, splashed with simple beauty where one can happily loose oneself. Located just 4 kilometres from Dabolim airport, Bogmalo beach makes a great first stop for tourists who like to get a feel of the beaches of Goa. Initially this beach in Goa was a fishing village until tourists started pouring in and tourism stated catching up in this small Indian State of Goa. The prime attraction of the beach is diving and one can also try fishing here. There are a lot of luxury resorts and multi cuisine restaurants in the area where one can enjoy delicious Goan food as well as seafood. This beach is an ideal picnic spot. 5) Vagator Beach
Vagator beach is one of the most scenic beaches in Goa that is situated immediately north of the Anjuna beach overlooked by steep picturesque laterite hills. The crescent shaped beach has become a favourite spot among tourists for midnight parties. The beach is also well known as the 500 Old Portuguese fort of Chapora is situated nearby. Not only is Vagator beach one of the longest beaches, but it is also one of the most stunning and amazing beaches here too. Divided into two parts, the Big Vagator and the Small Vagator, the tourists come here to enjoy the glorious sunsets and amazing seafood. At the end of little Vagator, you can see a beautiful face sculpted on a rock. Vagator offers everything ranging from water sports, shopping and luxury accommodation. It is a mix of local art, music, and nightlife.
6) Palolem Beach
Palolem Beach is also known as ‘Paradise Beach’ located in South Goa. Its claim to fame is the blockbuster movie ‘Bourne Supremacy’, as it was shot here. Now it’s quite popular with tourists but still manages to remain clean and well maintained. Tourists can also indulge in water sports like paragliding and wind-surfing at this beach so is a great spot if you’re looking for a beach suitable for entertaining teenagers. The water sports activity can be enjoyed at its Best on this beach. Although it is slightly secluded compared to the beaches of North Goa, you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants nearby if you want to make a day of it. There is a freshwater stream on the northern end of the beach and across this stream is a tiny underdeveloped island that can be accessed by swimming across during low tide. On Palolem island, there is a money stone with the words ‘Give if you can - Take if you have to’ sculpted on it. The closest railway station is at Canacona, which is just 3 km away from Palolem.
7) Colva Beach
Colva Beach is also a popular destination in south Goa and the beach is surely a jewel in Goa's crown of beaches. Colva beach is nearly 20 kilometres long and is one of the most beautiful and famous beach in Goa. It is a treat to those who want to have a lovely sunbathe and a peaceful relaxed moment. It looks more stunning with shacks, nightclubs and souvenir stalls all around. Like other beaches, this one too has got a number of water sports. Anjuna comes live with its ever-famous full-moon parties and the Wednesday flea market to take one on to a trance trip. Benaulim beach might be the right place if you are in search of a relaxing and rejuvenating holidays. Benaulim is a quiet paradise, it does tend to get a little crowded in the evenings as tourists come to enjoy the west-coast Indian sunset. The beach also tends to get crowded during the weekends.
10) Ashwem Beach
The Goa Ashwem beach has its own idyllic charm and is quite appealing, as it is a very quiet and clean place. It is a hidden gem with stunning scenery and range of nice beach hotels and resorts. It is situated in the Pernem region, in the northern area of Goa. Ashvem lies just south of Mandrem Beach and north of Morjim Beach. The reason for its popularity is its extensive stretches of white sand and exotic palm trees that grow along the fringes of this beach. The restaurants on the beach serve fresh seafood and local delicacies using the best ingredients and authentic recipes.
